Union Chapel AME Church Copy

The Union Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1917 by a group of faithful men and women, many whom were from Blakely, Georgia who had migrated to Newark, NJ; in order to take advantage of greater socio-economic opportunities. The congregation began as a Sunday School which met in the home of Mary B. Austin on Livingston Street in Newark. Rev Anthony Mitchell Sr. was appointed during the Fall Convocation of 2008 and was ordained an Itinerant Elder at the 2009 New Jersey Annual Conference by Bishop R. F. Norris. Rev. HEART 9/11

HEART 9/11 is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization founded by Bill Keegan, a retired Port Authority Police Department Lieutenant who served as Operations Commander for the W.T.C. Rescue/Recovery Mission. The organization is composed of veteran police officers, fire fighters, construction trade union workers, surviving families of those killed on September 11, 2001, and others. Meeting Essential Needs With Dignity (MEND) is an interfaith network of 16 food pantries located throughout Essex County, NJ. Our anti-hunger coalition, the largest in Essex County, has been providing emergency food to individuals and families in need since 1980. MEND is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. MEND works to alleviate hunger in Essex County by supporting our network of food pantries. Support includes fresh and healthy food, funds, social services referrals, volunteers, and a forum for member pantries. Lyons Veteran Hospital
