Civic Duty Partners was proud to bestow a 7 day Carnival Cruise to a deserving Marine, Corporal James Taylor. Taylor was nominated by Ed Arias of the NYS State Troopers Marine Corp Association. Arias’ letter can be read below.

Congratulations to Corporal James Taylor! In our mission to honor those who serve us, we hope you have a wonderful time on your well-deserved trip.

His commitment, dedication to excellence, and consummate professionalism epitomize the very best of our Corps values and I am thoroughly convinced that James is notably worthy of this donation. This Marine’s sound judgment, strong moral character, and dynamic leadership indelibly mark him as an outstanding community leader. Furthermore, his organic approach to encourage and motivate others with passion and empathy are his trademarks that make him an exceptional and genuine servant leader. These are the traits that are synonymous of our beloved Corps. His dedication and unrelenting drive for excellence has garnered the respect and admiration of the Veteran community and student body. His strong work ethic, personal example and level-headed approach in the application of the collateral duties assigned to him have been frequently emulated by his fellow Veterans and staff members, resulting in strengthening the team around him. He is a loyal team player and an exceptionally well-rounded individual who convincingly displays his ability to perform at higher levels of responsibility.

2. Despite his struggles with the overwhelming financial responsibilities related to the caretaking of his mom and sister, he continues to perform tireless outreach, mentorship and empathy towards his selfless passionate role of service to others. He notably has always been a team player and continues to place others’ well-being and interests ahead of his own, while his modesty keeps him from the credit and recognition he well deserves.

3. During his Honorable Marine Corps tenor from 2008 through 2012, is decorations are as follows; Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with 2 Bronze Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award), NATO Medal and Letter of Recommendation.

4. All letters of recommendation are glowing, but let me say that in over 20 years of leading Marines, Veterans and Veteran supporters, I can only think of a handful of leaders that have truly demonstrated a sincere desire to serve others and have a natural ability be a positive force in any setting, James Taylor is one of the few.
