Bethel A.M.E. Church – Morristown

Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church  of Morristown, New Jersey, is the first black congregation in Morris County, incorporated in 1843 by the Bethel Mite Society. Bethel Church of Morristown lives the mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, ministering to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed. Our Mission is rooted in the foundation laid by Bishop Richard Allen, who in the City of Philadelphia in 1787 started the movement that later became the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
