Observed annually on November 11, Veterans Day is an important holiday that honors military veterans who served our country. Coinciding with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day that mark the anniversary of end of World War I, the first Armistice Day was observed in 1919. President Woodrow Wilson remarked:
To us in America the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service, and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of nations.
In keeping with this spirit of remembrance, Civic Duty Partners honored our veterans by holding an educational event at Reyerson Elementary in Wayne, New Jersey. Educating children from a young age to honor those who served them is a wonderful way to instill civic duty and pride as they grow!
